Creating New Jobs
“We are working through the toughest economic recession of our generation. Even though these are tough times, it was great to work with our business community on the Olympic Peninsula to create new family wage jobs.”

Kevin worked to:
• Open Peninsula Plywood in Port Angeles creating more than 125 good paying jobs with benefits.
• Secure the contract for Aberdeen businesses to build the new Pontoons for the 520 bridge replacement.
• Secure new “biomass” energy projects for our pulp mills and other local businesses.

Helping Small Business
“Our small businesses are the backbone of our economy. State government needs to do all it can to make it easier for our local businesses to thrive and be successful.”

Kevin worked to:
• Double the state small business tax credit so our local businesses pay less.
• Cut red tape for small businesses by passing a Permitting Bill of Rights to streamline the permitting process.

Honoring our Veterans
“Our veterans made the greatest sacrifice possible in service of our country. They deserve to be honored and respected here at home.”

Kevin worked to:
• Name a portion of State Route 110 in the far western part of Clallam County the “Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm Memorial Highway.”
• Sponsored legislation to help Veterans get jobs after they return from service.

Keeping State Government Efficient
“State government needs to balance its budget in tough economic times, just like families do. Taxpayers should expect accountability and state projects that are on-time and on-budget.”

Kevin worked to:
• Restructure five Environmental Hearing Boards into two saving taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars.
• Require industries who rely on the Neah Bay Rescue Tug to pay for it, saving state taxpayers over 3 million dollars a year.
• Successfully oppose all proposals to raise the state sales tax.
