This has been one of the toughest times for the Peninsula. The economic recession has put too many people out of work and we have more to do creating better paying jobs with good benefits.

I worked in the last session to do my part to get the economy moving again by working to open Peninsula Plywood in Port Angeles, securing the state contract to build the new 520 pontoons in Grays Harbor and helping our pulp mills get new "biomass" energy projects.

I've worked with our small businesses to double the state small business tax credit and cut as much red tape as possible.

We've also worked to make state government more efficient by combining state agencies, expanding performance audits.

I'm ready to go back to Olympia and keep fighting for jobs in our community to get us back on track. Over the next few years, we need to get our public schools ready so kids in every part of the state will be ready to compete in the new global economy. With two kids in our public schools, I plan on being very involved in that discussion. In the long run, the strength of our education system will be the key to attracting good jobs and improving our economy so we minimize the impact of these cyclical downturns.

I'm always interested in hearing more about how I can do a better job representing you. I've often said that my job is to listen here at home and lead in Olympia. Please let me know how I'm doing and I ask for your support in my re-election campaign.
